For our very first event, we reconnected our volunteers & beneficiaries to one of Singapore’s places of heritage – the Tiong Bahru Heritage Trail which was newly launched on 14th April 2013 by the National Heritage Board. Together with 40 children from Child@Street11, Jamiyah Children’s Home, and Beyond Social Services, our 30 volunteers acted as “Jie Jie & Kor Kor” (Mandarin for big brothers & big sisters) to introduce the wonders of photography to the children while exploring the Tiong Bahru Heritage trail.
For most of the children, it was their first experience being entrusted with a digital camera and given the freedom to snap anything that they fancied. You should have seen their faces! The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves & even greeted the rain with good spirits in their yellow ponchos.
A very BIG thank you to the marvelous bunch of volunteers for your time, dedication and patience! Also, we would like to thank our generous sponsors for the event – Barclays, ClubSNAP Photography Community & Olympus Imaging Singapore, as it would not have been possible for the day to be so eventful without your support!
